The frequencies 12.015 H and 12.130 H on Thor 5 were launched in the last part of May with the purpose to transmit Euro 2008 to C@n@l Dígít@l Nørdíc's customers. All inn all 6 channels, 3 on each transponder: 2 norwegian, 2 swedish and 2 danish. After the Euro 2008 finished, those 2 frequencies are taken into use to upgrade bitrate on exsisting HD-channels as follows:
Silver HD, History Ch HD and TV4 HD moved from 11.341 V to 12.128 H (which is the correct frequency) from 2. july 2008 with dual illumination until 4. aug 2008.
Eurosport HD moved from 12.418 V to 12.015 H on 3. july 2008 with no dual illumination.
The danish Kanal 5 HD will move from 12.399 H to 12.015 H on 14. aug 2008, also with no dual illumination.
Discovery HD will move from 11.434 V to 12.015 H on 14. aug 2008 with dual illumination until 8. sept 2008.
11.431 V will be empty from 4. aug 2008, and I guess that they will be used to new HD-channels on the C@n@l Dígít@l-platform, probably BBC HD and Rush HD.
Parameters om 12.015 H and 12.128 H are: SR 30.000, FEC 3/4, DVB-S2 etc. All details can be obtained at this website (open the .pdf-documents linked to): h**p://www.telenorsbc.com/templates/Page.aspx?id=401.
The 12.015 and 12.128-frequencies give 66.6 Mbps. The "old" HD-frequencies 11.341 V, 11.421 H and 11.434 V give 55.703 Mbps each.
And now to the point: CAMs in general can cope with up to 58 Mbps as far as I know, the Diablo-cam no exception. This means that the Diablo is not fitted to handle the bitrates that these two transponders illuminate. Most cams have that limitation, as I understand it. I think that newer cams, as the Tecnicrypt CX-cam, will work with those bitrates (with original card, of course).
So what to do? Subscribtion to CD for those who can. Or use the M2+ card. Works perfectly here!
The good side of these transponder-switches is that 12.015 H and 12.128 H have "T2"-coverage, which means that they cover most of Europe opposite to most other transponders on Thor 5, that have "T1"-coverage, which covers northern part of Europe.
At the moment another HD-channel is broadcasting from the 12.015 H-transponder, called YLE Peking HD, presently broadcasting FTA, but I'm shure it will be crypted before the olympics start. But if the M2+-card lives that long, this problem will be solved...
