http://ec.europa.eu/avservices/ebs/satellite.cfmFOR THE ATTENTION OF EbS USERS
On 1 March 2012 the EbS services will move to a new satellite and the services on the current satellite Astra 4A will cease. The new service will be on Eutelsat 9A at 9°E, transponder 59, downlink frequency 11900.1 horizontally polarised, symbol rate 27,500 FEC 2/3. For the majority of users, the dish sizes required for the new service are the same as for the current service on Astra 4A. In some cases a smaller dish will prove satisfactory, sites on the edge of the coverage region may require a larger dish. The service will remain in standard definition; there are no plans for an HD service. The content of the services will not change. This change will allow EbS to take advantage of the latest developments in satellite technology namely DVB S2 and MPEG4. The video signals of both EbS and EbS+ will be encoded in MPEG4 and the 32 audio channels will be encoded using AAC-HE. These encoding parameters are commonly used by DVB S2 services and all receivers, professional and domestic, should be able to decode the content. Test services are anticipated to begin in February and the EbS schedule will provide information on the progress of the project.
